Keeping Kids Warm: Subaru of San Bernardino Donates Winter Essentials to Boys & Girls Clubs Members

As the temperatures drop, staying warm becomes a challenge for many families in our community. For children without proper winter gear, cold weather can be more than just uncomfortable—it can impact their confidence and well-being. This year, thanks to the generosity of Subaru of San Bernardino and their partnership with Operation Warm® through the Subaru Loves to Help® initiative, children at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside received a special gift: over 150 brand-new winter coats, socks, and shoes.

More Than Just a Donation

The recent gifting event at the Redlands Hansberger Clubhouse wasn’t just about distributing warm clothing—it was about giving kids a moment of joy and choice. Club members had the opportunity to pick their favorite colors and styles, turning a simple donation into an empowering experience. Volunteers were on hand to help the kids find the right fit, creating a warm, supportive atmosphere where every child left feeling special and valued.

“We are thrilled and grateful to partner with organizations like Subaru to address the basic needs of the youth in our community,” said Michael Wells, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside.

Making a Difference Where It’s Needed Most

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 17% of children in San Bernardino County live in poverty, often lacking access to basic necessities like warm clothing. The impact of not having these essentials extends beyond physical discomfort—it affects a child’s emotional and mental well-being. By providing new winter gear, Subaru is helping to ensure that these kids can focus on learning, playing, and growing without the added worry of staying warm.

“Thank you, Subaru! This generous donation of brand-new coats will bring warmth and joy to our club members,” Wells shared.

Subaru’s Commitment to Giving Back

As part of the 2025, Subaru Loves to Help initiative, Subaru and its network of over 630 retailers across the country are delivering brand-new clothing items to children in need. Their partnership with Operation Warm® and other community-focused efforts has supported over 900,000 children and adults facing urgent needs.

At Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside, we are grateful for partners like Subaru who understand that small gestures—like a warm coat—can have a lasting impact. Together, we can continue to build a brighter, warmer future for our kids.
